New Potential World Record Snakehead

Ng Yam Pin recently captured this massive 28-pound Giant Snakehead to potentially set the IGFA Men’s 30lb Line Class World Record. He was fishing in Rawang, Malaysia when this huge snakehead crushed his lure. He was able to land the fish, record the weight, and safely release the fish. The current 30lb Line Class Record is 24lbs 0oz, captured in 2016. This fish was caught by angler Roob Ganesan, also fishing in Rawang. This record is currently pending and under review.

The Giant Snakehead species is the largest specimen in the Channidae Family, in which the popular Northern Snakehead and Bullseye Snakehead also belong.
