Angler Phillip Duracz broken the Indiana state record Burbot on January 10th with a 11.4 pound fish from Lake Michigan. This is the second time the record has been broken in the past two weeks. On December 30th angler Scott Skafar initially broke the 32 year old record with a 10.2 pound fish, also caught from Lake Michigan. Phillip Duracz, the new record holder is not unfamiliar from Indiana's state record list. Duracz also currently holds the state record for Lake Whitefish. This fish weighed 9.34 pounds and was caught in 2021 from Lake Michigan. Catching a state record is an amazing accomplishment as all anglers know, but catching two in two different species is some seriously rarified air!
